Twelve ways in which the Primary Progress Toolkit can support school management

10. Review your school’s progress using Value Added Measures

1 This table shows a three-year summary of Value Added Measures (with values for AAT & CVA measures).
2 The table also shows your school’s percentile rank: this is a comparison with schools nationally, for example, a rank of 30 means that your school is in the top 30% of schools nationally.

3 The table opposite shows Value Added Measures grouped by pupil characteristics (for example, CVA scores by prior attainment at KS1, or for FSM, SEN groups).

4 Highlighting options are provided in both the table and graph displays. These indicate whether your school’s progress (VA score) is significantly higher or lower than average, and highlight significant changes from one year to the next.
5 When viewing a table, click on the ‘Graph’ button to switch to a graphical display; when viewing a graph, click on the ‘Table’ button to return to that view. Several graphs are provided, so clicking Graph brings up a menu of graph choices. This one shows the CVA scores for different pupil groups.
